Perhaps the answer for digital radio might be for more radios to include

Why more radios don't have record and pause ability is a mystery to
me. The technology has been around for a while now and is fairly
inexpesive to implement so god knows why only a few models have it.
After all, we had recording of radio programs with radio cassette
players 30 years ago!
Another possible point, would it be too silly to consider a digital
radio with a built in camera??
Umm , I think thats just silly. :)
