Jamie, in your single sentence reply, you've called upon wikipedia as
an authoritative source, and asked for a Nyquist sampled digital
signal to contain the _reconstructed_ waveform.

The waveform can only be "reconstructed" using software which performs
an interpolation technique. This basically involves upsampling and
then guessing where the extra samples should go based on the available
information.
This method is highly inaccurate and, although reasonable success can
be achieved with sine waves (at certain frequencies), 'real world'
sounds are much more complex and unpredictable, so the missing
information cannot be "guessed" so easily. Therefore the result for
actual signals is just an approximation.

Where did you read this?

Please, stop trying so hard to make yourself look silly.

If you're doing an engineering degree, and want to pass it, I suggest
you spend more time reading, and less time posting nonsense in
newsgroups.

If, on the other hand, you've given up on the degree and aspire to do
no more than troll Steve, that's up to you.

Wow... cheap shots and a refusal to discuss technical issues in detail
- are you really Steve in disguise?

No.

PS. we've studied Nyquist already, and I passed all relevant exams
with flying colours. Sorry to disappoint you.

If you were marked correct on an explanation along the lines of the
one you've given here, it's the person marking your exam paper who I'm
disappointed with.

Cheers,
David.
