I found a new station that has appeared on the dial, called Talk 107.
It is operating at 48 kbps. Is this a record low figure? Is there
any quality threshold for broadcasting?
No doubt somebody will say that 48 kbps is perfectly good sound and
anyone who disagrees is an eccentric or audiophile.
Look on the bright side , at least you've got a non BBC local talk
station so it might actually be talk aimed at people under retirement
age. For some reason Ofcom don't seem to believe in local talk radio,
preferring instead to grant licenses to endless identikit pop or gold
stations.
