What Band 3?, if so to whom?..

If you are serious, simplistically Band I to Band III is VHF (very
high frequency). Band I used to be BBC television, 405 lines, black
and white. Band II is FM radio. Band III used to be ITA (Independent
Television Authority) television services, 405 lines, black and white.

Bands IV and V are UHF (ultra high frequency). These bands are used
for colour television, starting with BBC2 when it was launched then
followed by BBC1 and independent television when colour was
introduced.


Thank you for the lecture, I sometimes wonder what I've been doing for
the last 40 years in radio and TV nor to have noticed that;)

Sorry, I wasn't sure what you were asking. At least our Swedish
friend seems to have found the 'lecture' interesting even if it is
common knowledge to those in the UK.
