Actually, no!

It was tried over here years ago -- on an ILR in the East of England,
ISTR.

Radio Orwell in Ipswich in the 1980s. Chosen because it was the nearest ILR station, at the time, to the USAF bases in Suffolk, and therefore likely to capture some AM stereo equipped receivers.
