Someone's emailed me to say that there's a letter about R3's bit
rate issue in the new Radio Times and a reply from "a BBC spokesman"
(on page 137) that was published today.
I'm not certain whether these are direct quotes from the "BBC
spokesman" or words to the effect quotes, but here they are anyway
"our equipment is now so much better than it was that it allows us
to do this, and listening tests have confirmed that the quality is
every bit as good as it used to be"
It's good to see they've not lost their sense of humour.
It went on to explain that the sport channel is running continuous
adverts when not on air so that it doesn't confuse people when they
tune in during its non-broadcasting times. It's the same logic that
puts logos on TV channels for the benefit of people who would
otherwise not know which one they were watching.
If it's not too long, could you transcribe it for us please?
