Gegroet,
As I got quite some bits to burn on my monthly download-limit, I subscribe to the 3 days free "try-out" subscription to Xstream (the internet service of XM-radio).
(I have a mac at home which is one of the supported systems).
In the end, I didn't get it to run on my mac, but ... wonder O wonder .. it does work on my linux laptop. (Which is great as I can try out some of the more advanced features).
I got it to run in the native mplayer, and this is what it said concerning the audio-codec:
___ cut here ___ cut here ___ cut here ___
Opening audio decoder: [ffmpeg] FFmpeg/libavcodec audio decoders
AUDIO: 48000 Hz, 2 ch, s16le, 64.0 kbit/4.17% (ratio: 8001->192000)
Selected audio codec: [ffwmav2] afm:ffmpeg (DivX audio v2 (FFmpeg))
___ cut here ___ cut here ___ cut here ___
What is DivX audio v2? Is this mpeg 4 audio? Is this AAC?
I must say, I've been trying some of the channels and -concerning audio-quality- it sound OK.
Only the "channel-choice" is typically American: 8 channels of R&B, 15 channels of "Rock" (which seams to include 'Alternative'), no less then 4 channels of 'Chistian', but ... only 3 channels of 'jazz' and only one 'blues' channel. ???
Another funny thing, I turned to "VOX" (in the 'classical' part, "the magic of the humac voice") thinking of hearing some opera or something like that.
Instead I heared some african lady singing an old African song (OK, no problem with that), but ... with the sound of a number of cows "booing" in the background.
No wonder people think Africa is such a backward contintent that they do not have proper recording studios overthere!
Cheerio! Kr. Bonne. .
