Re: Swap file leakage?

I reccomend you are very careful how you name your files,

Why? What do you mean with this?

For example, if you want to deny that you have a document called "My diary"
inside your encrypted drive, nobody will be able to access your document
because is encrypted, but if you name it "My Diary", they could find a registry
key linking to a document called "My Diary" it would be impossible to deny you
have a file with that name even if the contents can bot be accessed.

I find 512RAM a minimum for Windows XP not to use the swap file.

I have over 512, but, I really dont know how swap file works, thats why
I was afraid of data going trough there... as I said, It is supposed,
that, because everything is enrypted, when taking away the HD, the files
in swap file, canot be accesed, becasue original file was encrypted...
This is what I think, and thats what I am asking, I want to know if my
tohughts are right. And if I am wrong, how can I prevent this.

OK, RAM file is static, you swich off your computer it goes away for ever,
the information on your hard disk stays, you swich off your computer, switch
it back on and its there.

If you open lots of application that consume lots of RAM (games,Photoshop...)
once your computer has finished all the RAM, it will not crash, it will use
your hard disk as a RAM, that space being use as a RAM is called the swap or page file,
you can check how much RAM you are using in the task manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL) and then
perfomance, "Page File Usage History" is the RAM you are using.

If you have more than 512 in my oppinion you should be fine.
