I checked my hosts file a number of times over the last 12 months or so and
the redirect is not coming from there.
The cause appears to be external to the computer(s) tested possibly at the
ISP although it could be further afield if that is possible. (Insufficient
information to determine if the cause is generated by Google the ISP or
nationally).
The US IP's will be useful as would others for other search engines or other
domains.
Nothing like being able to make your own free choices.
