First of all, I'm a highly theoretical guy - I love exploring and
discussing the possibilities. Second, I'm a very aggressive and
disputatious guy, so I love arguing the possibilities. In real life I'm an
engineering consultant; I leave the messy business of implementation to
others. Reality is a crutch for people who don't do drugs :-)

So, yes, I use remailers, and am thankful they exist and am grateful to
those who provide them and those who developed the software they depend
upon. But, for example, my main focus is to understand them as deeply as
possible in terms of their strengths and their weaknesses. And I do that
not principally (and certainly not solely) for any practical value
(although I do value their utility) but mostly simply for the joy of
understanding. So, as a theoretician to the core, in my heart of hearts I
enshrine an (only slightly weakened) equivalent of the motto of the
Bourbakians: "Here's to pure mathematics - may it never be of any use to
anyone!"
