Great News!
AOHELL and Micro$oft announce that due to their ANTI-SPAM efforts
that spam is down by eighty-five per cent. Doesn't that give you a clue?
Monday next a drawing will be held giving away gold bars and a Hummer
seized as a result of successful lawsuits by the giants.
It's like the well planned, well executed investigation that produces
the big drug cleanup in the neighbourhood. It merely eliminates the
small time would be's that compete with the real lords.
No more spam, just on-line data mining and advertising on the browser pages.
For those who have asked recently about spam, cookies, etc.:
One person who complained that their computer was running slow, I speeded up
for them by removing tons of rubbish. An average user who was loaded with cookies,
fastclick, bonzi, etc., and a little spyware. The "average" consumer who never
visits usenet, even via gooooogle. Your presence here, even as a lurker, puts you
in a minority of internet users.
Free internet access requires accepting ads and cookies via JavaScripts that
the average internet user accepts with no modifications whatsoever.
Popups are blocked by my browser; but one incoming script blocks
certain actions taken by the browser, which is why for normal browsing I (and many others)
disable java. However, many websites won't allow access unless you accept their cookies
and scripts. Even with a realmedia cookie blocked, third party cookies blocked, etc.
for the page ads - realmedia cookie comes through.
Each time a new ad or cookie comes through an ID packet goes out.
Sample script received by me during one minute sign-on sign-off yielded 1/2 gig of transmissions:

Only the isp main page was displayed and no browsing was done.
When I clicked a question mark, Firefox kept trying to reconnect to get the info on-line.
I closed the app with Process Explorer from sysinternals but Firefox kept trying until
I killed it with Windoze Task Manager. Strange that a running app closed by ProcExp
disappeared from the ProcExp lineup but still showed in Task Manager and was still running.
