It is over-kill in the extreme. Here's a more reasonable proposal:

America needs fours aircraft carriers instead of the current eleven.
One for the Pacific and one for the Atlantic and two to rotate.  (Let
the other countries guard THEIR oceans.)

America needs about 20 overseas military bases (evenly spread on the
five main continents) instead of the current 702 bases.

America needs  a couple hundred US bases instead of the current 6,000..

And weapons? Don't get me started on that MASSIVE WEAPONS PORK BARREL
that does not make us safer but only gets congressmen re-elected.

Someone needs to say it: OUR MASSIVE MILITARY IS KILLING AMERICA. We
need to SERIOUSLY downsize. Not a whimpy cut here-and-there -- BUT A
HUGE SLASHING.

CUT THE MILITARY. SAVE AMERICA.  It's the only way.

Cut nothing.  Don't want embolden the Russians like Carter did when he
let the military dilapidate. Besides, both the Chinese and Russians
are increasing military spending.

Your rightwing propaganda about Carter aside...

China and Russia could both DOUBLE their military spending and it
still wouldn't equal HALF of ours.
