Appointing of Virginia Deegan a "political move" (left-wing) by the University of Adelaide

Virginia Deegan (wife of judge Brian Deegan, who's son died a
hurrendous and deserved accident), alongside James McWha (VC at
Adelaide Uni) has been trying to promote itself to be in "partnership"
with Google! http://www.adelaide.edu.au/news/news31901.html
Anyway, the thing is, that they signed up with Google Apps (which
anybody really can, as long as they own their domain), and they are
talking up their "partnership" with academia's #1, sort of thing.
Here are some of McWha's comments:
"The University has been actively working to find a solution to the
increasing challenge of providing quick, efficient and greater
capacity email services to students, which is something students at
all universities desire. As our student population has grown in recent
years, that challenge has increased"
"We are confident that this new arrangement with Google will provide
the best solution possible, offering students world-class email
services and other online tools at no cost to them or to the
University."
"We are very excited about the links with Google, which has an
excellent reputation globally and is a world leader in the provision
of online applications to the higher education sector."
