That happens from time to time using Google's online newsreader. In
the last year or so it seems to be occuring ever more frequently. I
doubt if it's any sort of conspiracy. More than likely it's either
incompetence or an indication that Google doesn't make much money on
its newsgroups and dedicates limited resources to keeping it running.
The solution is to use a newsreader like Outlook Express or Forte
Agent, for example, as a newsreader. That assumes, of course, that
your ISP supports newsgroups. If they don't, there are companies on
the internet that provide that service for a few dollars a month.
