Imagine the HUGE mess it would be if the whole strategic reserve was
used up just because prices are a tad more expensive than you would
like them to be, and then before prices have dropped back down again a
REAL disaster happens and USA is cut off from future oil supplies

stragegic reserves is for when the sheet really hits the fan. Like major
natural disaster, or when the Muslims decide to do another embargo.

Or when people have to go without food so they can drive to work.

We could release even 100 million barrels to ease the crisis. Also we could
BUY IT BACK AT A LOWER PRICE, and even make money in the process.
