Just sent this to ElRushbo:
Hi, Rush!
The April 2008 issue of National Geographic magazine has an
interesting article on the Sahel, a strip of semi-arid desert
stretching across Africa which is the transition zone between the
Sahara and the jungles of the continent. In case you have already
heard or talked about this, please forgive me: I only get a chance to
listen to you periodically. But every time I get the chance, I do!
The Sahel has grown in general over decades but recent years, while
some patches have become drier, some have developed INCREASED
vegetation. According to the article, some scientists propose that
global warming/increased carbon dioxide have promoted plant growth in
these previously desolate areas.
Well, we certainly don't want to see our deserts go green! Better get
that extra carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere NOW! Besides, before
you know it, all the extra vegetation will start producing too much
OXYGEN!
Here's a link to the online article. However, it appears you have to
have the magazine in your formerly nicotine-stained hands to see the
fold out map and sidebar which mentions the regreening.

BTW - The Institute for Creation Research (ICR) is an organization
staffed by fully qualified scientists who are biblical creationists.
Whether or not global warming is actually happening, they propose a
reason for it, if it is occurring. Creation theory posits that the
world was one, giant, balmy greenhouse before the Flood of Noah. At
the Flood, this wonderful climate control system was severely damaged,
resulting in ONE ice age AFTER the Flood. The theory says that while
we may not get back to a fully, wonderfully warm, global climate like
we had before the Flood, the earth has been warming up since that ice
age which immediately followed the Flood. The earth has been warming
toward a new equilibrium, in other words, for thousands of years.

I appreciate your show and am glad to contribute cannon fodder for
you, now and then, in case you missed some!
Sincerely,
YO
