How sad it is for a once great nation to resort to begging the Saudi's
to increase their oil production. The Saudi's of course refused, so
where does that leave America? Gas prices at an all time high, the US
dollar at an all time low, the unpopular war in Iraq continues to
alienate America's friends at allies while bankrupting the country,
huge deficits mount and with the medicare deficit and social security
deficit looming, America is on course to becoming a 3rd world country.
What must America do to avert Catastrophe? It is clear to me that
many American's think they can continue driving their SUV's and an
unlimited amount of oil exist. What America must do is end the war in
Iraq and the phony war on terror (Bin Laden is probably dead) and
declare war on imported oil. The problem is solvable:
1) Increase gas tax using funding for better public transport and R&D
on alternative fuels
2) Tax cars that get low fuel mileage and give tax rebates to hybrids
and the like that have good fuel mileage
3) End the war in Iraq and use some of the money to fund R&D on
alternative fuels.
4) Mandate half of America's power supply will come from clean fuel by
2020 with milestones along the way.
