NATO has warned Russia that its recent troop build-up in Georgia's two
breakaway regions undermines its neighbour's territorial integrity.

Russia's moves in Abkhazia and South Ossetia were raising tensions in
the area, a Nato spokesman said.

Moscow has accused Georgia of preparing to invade Abkhazia, and says
it is also boosting Russian peacekeeping forces there and in South
Ossetia.

Tbilisi has described the Russian move as "irresponsible".

"The steps that have been taken [by Russia] and the rhetoric have
increased tensions and undermined Georgia's territorial integrity,"
Nato spokesman James Appathurai said.

He also urged both Moscow and Tbilisi to avoid harsh rhetoric.

US National Security Council spokesman Gordon Johndroe on Wednesday
said Washington was "concerned abut reports from the region".

The European Union has appealed for caution, saying to increase troop
numbers would be unwise given current tensions.

Could be the "New Russia" isn't content to simply spread
itself to the north pole ... but wants back some of the
USSRs old territories too.

Georgia is clearly in no position to be a bona-fide "threat"
to Russia. It hasn't a fraction of the military might - it
would be like Mexico "threatening" the USA. As such, there
is no need for a troop build-up along the Georgian border.
Russia can express its displeasure in another, less hostile,
manner.

Of course, as with the USA, Russia DOES have a sort of
"bigger hammer" philosophy ... prefering to blow things
up rather than suffer the annoyances of traditional
diplomacy and trade agreement.

Oh...stop it...please...NATO's going to "scare" Putin...I'm sure he's
trembling in his boots at the mere contemplation of having to square
off against a real "cowboy" like George Bush...much too much for
him...Putin's probably resigning from office even as we write
this...terrified, and in tears...begging for mercy...horrified at
facing "American Military Might"...

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH!!!!!

Have you ever compared Russia's military with that of the US, and then
add on NATO on top of that?
