Towards the end of WWII, a senator, Harry S. Truman wanted to begin
hearings against contractors reaping illegal profits from the war. The
then president, Franklin D. Roosevelt, wholeheartedly agreed. Hearings
took place and many were indicted and jailed. All this, while the war
continued.

Today, GW has decided on his own, through his favorite medium,
signing statements, to not only block investigations against potential
illegal dealing by war contractors but to not protect whistle blowers
that might arise.

Unfortunately, this is not a black and white issue, since both parties
are complicit to making illegal war profits. Nothing will be done and
the Media will stay quiet.

You can now go back to your political rhetoric....

Americans are oblivious because this is a non-issue. I don't even know if
you are aware of what a signing statement is. It has no effect on the law
as written. It only helps the court to interpret the law later on if there
is an issue with interpretation.
