Iraq Ambassador: Iran Aided the Surge
Thursday, December 6, 2007
UNITED NATIONS - Iraq's United Nations Ambassador Hamid al-Bayati admits
that help from Iran played a key role in calming insurgent activity in and
around Baghdad.
"Yes, they have been helpful. It has been a combination of the American
surge and Iranian cooperation that has led to a decrease in attacks,"
explained al-Bayati in an exclusive interview with Newsmax.
Al-Bayati confirmed recent reports from the region that the Iranian
government has indeed clamped down on insurgent infiltration activity at the
Iraqi border.
The Iraqi also explained that Baghdad will host a fourth round of U.S.-Iran
diplomatic "consultations" next week.
Sure seems like...
There ain't gonna be ANY publicity around any deal Washington might make
with Tehran. Neither party would want anyone anywhere knowing anything
about it.
Yep, no publicity...
Ollie North can tell you how deals are struck with Tehran.
Say there was a deal struck.
Say, something along the lines that "Ali, you gotta clamp down on the
IRRG and get the hell out of Iraq. Close down the Iraqi Hizbullah
assistance budget. And, when we see this is being done, we'll defuse the
next round of UN sanctions."
Yessir, about exactly like that...
Probably was a "Stick" somewhere too.
Hence, the NIE Puff Piece which doesn't say what it says. But it
generates headlines to the effect that "Iran shut down its nuclear
weaponization project in 2003."
The NIE makes any further UN Sanctions impossible, makes any US unilateral sanctions impossible (except by Executive Order), makes any Euro-based sanctions impossible, leaves Israel butt-naked on their own, and swings the doors open for both Russian and Chinese increasing involvement with Iran.
Basically, everything that has happenned in the last couple of years regarding Iran never happenned.
Bush's "hands are tied" in dealing out further sanctions. Okay. But what
if Dubya did the reverse Houdini and tied those knots himself? After
getting the deal that will win the war in Iraq?
Speculation is running about 50-50: a) CIA slapped some payback on Bush with the fake NIE; and, b) Bush engineered this himself.
I'm leaning toward: c) CIA was going to cool down (but not shutdown) the Iran nuke situation as a mild version of payback, Cheney got wind of that, Bush-Cheney worked a Master Plan out of it trumping the CIA's idea of a mini-payback into something quite huge.
Rush is railing against the report--glomming on a WSJ piece that points
out the authors of the NIE are "State Department hacks," one with a
grudge against this administration.
Despite what Rush is saying, I looked up the primary author. He is a
Bush appointee who was just confirmed by the Senate only about a year
ago. Sterling credentials.
The actual words of the NIE don't write themselves. And its not just the author that has a real name a telephone number and an address - those exact words were approved up the chain several times. There is NO CHANCE that the Executive Branch didn't get tipped on those exact words ahead of time.
Despite Rush's railing, even he says there's something going on with it
that just doesn't pass the smell test. He admits he hasn't got it
figured out just yet.
Rush is trying to hard. Its right there in front of his face. Saying that you've halted your nuclear weapons program while enriching uranium at a furious pace is equivalent to me saying I've halted shooting at my neighbor's children while sitting there reloading my gun.
But the NIE is so patently and transparently phoney that it was certainly intended to be seen by anyone with half a brain as patently and transparently phoney.
This was a fairly brilliant idea because everybody wins, the scoreboard gets reset to zero, an we see what happens next.
"It is up for the Iraqi courts to decide what to do with him. He was aAziz was top tier. He's a Goering. If Goering deserved to hang (though
central member of the Revolutionary Command Council and the courts wanted
all its members to be held accountable."
Aziz has remained in limbo since his surrender, only having periodic
telephone contact with family members in Jordan and London.
he wasn't really involved in the Final Solution) then so does Aziz.
I'm sure Aziz is in no hurry for his trial to begin. He knows how it
will end for him.
Yep, they're in no hurry and neither is Aziz. He knows he's gonna swing and shit his pants...
