Cheney's big victory


There was a recent Frontline about Cheney's deeply held belief in
consolidation of authority under the President.

Cheney is basically an authoritarian who believes that Congress is too
quick to bow to the will of the people and cannot act decisively.

This presidency has proven how damaging consolidated power can be. But
one thing is certain, Cheney has achieved his ambition of promoting the
power of the President. Ironically, it's true that nobody in Congress
has the power or guts to stand up to the current administration.
