Hospitals Accused Of Patient Dumping Face Action
CBS 2 - KCAL 9
June 27, 2007
Two hospitals and a transportation services firm were accused of
patient dumping in civil complaints filed Tuesday by the Los
Angeles City Attorney's Office, according to a report.
Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Feliz and Methodist
Hospital in Arcadia were accused of four separate incidents of
alleged patient dumping, two by each facility, over a 14-month
period, the Los Angeles Times reported.
A van driver, despite pleas from onlookers, allegedly left Gabino
Olvera, a 54-year-old paraplegic, at a Skid Row park. Empire
Enterprises, the alleged owner of the van, was also named in the
suit. The complaints seek fines against the hospitals and a
judge's order to forbid the practice of dumping patients, The
Times reported.
Kaylor Shemberger, CHA Health Systems executive vice president, the
parent company of Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center, issued a
statement saying that Olvera told the van driver to drop him off at
a sidewalk location, a violation of hospital policy.
"Following this incident we instituted several new policies and
intensified training to make sure nothing of the sort happens
again," Shemberger said.
Methodist Hospital issued a statement saying officials "would like
to have the opportunity to review the complaint before making any
comments."
I guess Sicko is the new source for the ranting liberals. I wonder
why Castro was a major part of this propaganda movie? Could it be
when he got sick the Cuban health system had to fly in experts from
Europe. Jack g.
Unless you see SICKO your
comments are just so much bull***.
America can do better.
Canada, Great Britain, France, AND Cuba
do better for their citizenry that we do.
Really?

Not to mention:
In Canada there is a 7-9 month wait for MRI's.

America can do better.
We can always strive to improve. "Free" health care, a la
Canada, is not the way to go.
You don't like Canada's system?
Do you? Did you follow the links I posted?
Try Great Britain's, or France's, or even lowly Cuba...in
each of these countries every citizen has health care coverage.
I gathered info on Canada. There's no point in wasting my
time with those other countries when it's obvious to the casual
observer that socialized medicine is a joke.
We pay the most and don'get the best outcome.
Cite?
Have you seen SICKO?
No...I'm not giving any money to M. Moore.
France is ranked number 1, we are ranked 37. Why is this acceptable
to you?
Why don't you move to France then?
My question was, why do you find this acceptable? Bringing up moving
when somebody asks a question is quite childish. Since you are a
child I will answer in language that a child can understand. I am
staying here because I wish to make the US better.
Bully for you. And how do you plan to do that? By raising MY
taxes of course.
It's always nice when you can achieve your goals by making
other people pay.
Now, answer the
question, why do you find it acceptable that the US is ranked 37?
I don't believe the rankings, mate.
We don't really need to raise taxes. We can just rearrange the taxes
that are already there. For example, the money spent on Iraq or a
chunk of what is spent on defense could be used just to add for the
people who don't have access to health care. It shouldn't be too much
given Medicaid already exists. Do you realize that, right now, as we
speak, the US spends more on our military then the rest of the world
combined spends on military? Yikes! Take a small percentage of that
and you've got everyone covered. And it doesn't even have to be
controlled by the government, just paid for. You would still have
private control over many medical issues. Why not have our cake and
eat it, too?
Michael Moore may be really biased towards medicine and other things
but why not heed the warning. The "greatest" country in the world is
ranked 37th and that should not be acceptable to any citizen.
