At best, the market place is one dollar, one vote.
That is plutocracy and sorta the antithesis of democracy.
The market gives you choices. Democracy steals choices. What do you
have when you have no choice?
Wasn't America supposed to be about voluntary agreement instead of
forced obedience?

Democracy is nothing more than Mob rule! You can't even have a
democracy when you are kept in the dark about what the government is
doing.
Most people are busy making a living and can't spend all their
time investigation secrets.
The news media is a complete failure in this respect.
In Oregon discriminatory laws are passed all the time screwing
minority groups but when the cowards in the state capitol want
something passed but don't want to take the blame they refer it to the
voters.
A fine example is the bill put before the voters that ends all
smoking in any building and no closer than twenty feet of a door or
window.
Suppose you own a bar and want to open a bar advertised as
smokers only, can't be done. A good portion of the people smoke, yet
if they would just vote as a block, most of the politicians would be
out of office.
The problem is not smoking, but poor ventilation in buildings.
People will vote out smoking but say nothing about breathing farts and
viruses and obnoxious perfumes some people bath in.
It is called tyranny by the majority when it is convenient
for the plutocrats, Ignored when they don't want it.
a measure was passed by a peoples initiative requiring the
government to compensate land owners when zoning destroys the land
values, and the legislature has been busting their collective asses
to get it overturned.
Any land zoned by the government is basically depriving the land
owners of ownership and limits his use of the land, contrary to the
deed they issue.
No you don't have a democracy. Read "1984" by the profit George
Orwell and you will learn exactly where you are headed.
