It's a sad state of affairs when myth and superstition supersede truth and
knowledge.

Fortunately there are a number of educated individuals who can keep the dark
ages from decending over our Country. They are using evolutionary processes
to
create new disease reisistant crops, develop new species of mice for
research
purposes and delving into our genetics to find cures for diseases.

Genetics is the basis of evolution and those who fail to recognize the truth
are
destined to be left behind. They can pray to their demigod and keep their
beliefs in demons all they want, the rest of us will continue to make the
world
a better place.

Beliefs are usually replaced by other beliefs. Seldom disbelief. What
alternatives do you offer?

Truth and reason!

Neither of the above are beliefs.

Science doesn't look for "truth". Science looks for verifiable and

Actually, science does look for the truth. In many cases it can only come up
with a close approximation but in other cases it is absolutely accurate.

The practical application of these scientific facts are demonstrated by our use
of electricity, flight of aircraft, genetically modified crops,
etc...etc...etc...

The best you can say of any scientific, law, theory or hypothesis is
not that it is true but that it has yet to be proven false.

And remember that real science is a very young field. With some minor
exceptions, most of our knowledge of the world is less than 100 years old.
Prior to the development of electricity most, (but not nearly all), of our
beliefs were based on myth, superstition and the supernatural.

Some of the less educated among us still hold on to these beliefs despite
substantial evidence to the contrary. Mores the pity.

Belief without evidence is folly and leads to all sorts of ghosts, demons and
evil empires:-(
