I am willing to bet that not one of you know what the
candidates will do about the following issues, regardless of
what party they are in.

1. What are they proposing we do about the illegal alien

illegal's from entering this country? What are they going to
do about the illegal's already in this country, both those who
came into the country illegally and those who are now illegal's
who entered this country legally?

2. The three big entitlement programs are consuming a larger
and larger percentage of total federal spending and growing,
what do they propose to do about solving that problem?

3. The trustees of Social Security are saying that Social
Security and Medicare are fiscally unsound. What do they
propose to make it fiscally sound? Is the proposed solution,
simply kicking the can down the road a little further, or is it
really going to solve the problem?

4. Do they support the balanced budget amendment? If not, why
not? If they do not support the balanced budget amendment, how
do we solve the debt and deficit problem? Is reducing the
debt and the deficit important in your opinion, or is it not
important?

5. What is their position on Pork Barrel spending and
Earmarks? Do they support CAGW's position on how to reform pork
barrel spending? If not, why not? If they have a proposal,
what is it?

Thanks! I was starting to think that I was the
only person wondering about these questions.

IT IS IMPERATIVE that we voters get answers to these
questions. We MUST use every opportunity to BLOCK
them from distractions such as long winded discussions
on stem cell research, creationism, global warming
and other intellectual distractions.

We MUST complain when the so-called "news"
networks or "news" media spend pages
and pages covering public opinion polls,
who made the most clever remark,
who made the worst gaffe all the while
IGNORING the 5 key questions which the poster
has listed.

Everyone MUST insist that the democrats and repbulicans
ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS.

Thanks Again

What a laugh - stem cell research, global warming - intellectual
distractions - must be another jerk fundy repug.

You will, I hope, pardon my characterization of those important
issues but the key questions raised by the initial poster
MUST be answered first. That is how we ended up with the
incompetent George Bush. And there are a lot of George Bush
clones out there - McCain and Romney and Giulani to name but a few.

We are in a dark ages. Humanity does every now and then take two
steps back before resuming their walk forward. The generations today
mirror those of the 1920's. But as is often the case these periods
result in excesses by the greedy and powerful that end in changing
the upcoming generations ideas and goals. Did Bush creat enough
hardship to creat the change? I don't know. I'm guessing a recession
or even a depression will finally be the result of this ridiculously
overspent economy. At some point the 'haves' will not be able to
spend/borrow enough to replace the missing consumption of the have
nots.

I can not remember a worse time in my life. It amazes me that the
average income is 43,000 a year - I'd call that lower class for a
family. That income can not purchase a medium priced home.
Bush has managed to bring America out of the 'New Deal' and into the
'Raw Deal'.

I was originally a classical conservative republican but, after the
neo-cons,
there are no more republicans - they have altered the entire
character of that party
and there is NO way the current social security system, medicare,
medicaid, education and other programs can remain financially
viable without massive tax increases - particularly on the very
companies and businesses that encouraged the importation
of the immigrant workers. MOST certainly NOT by cutting their
taxes as Bush, the incompetent, has done. Likewise - there is NO
way that all those immigrants will be deported after being enticed
here for the same reason that most our ancestors came - to provide
a decent living for their families and the only solution is to
legitmize those who want to become citizens. Any other solution is
un- American
and you can just go check out that inscription at the base of the
Statue of Liberty
to reassure yourself in case the neo "con" men's twisted logic has
polluted your brain.

One solution.

The other is to require the same from these latinos as were required
of my grandparents. An Ellis Island and a fence as effectice against
mexicans as the Atlantic ocean was against the Europeans.

If it means a triple fence filled with lions - fine. Lions need to
eat to.

The difficult of crossing the Atlantic to an unsure future insured
those immigrants were of the quality America needed while the ease of
crossing the southern border insures we get the trash Mexico doesn't
want.

I'm ready to vote for ANY CANDIDATE, who can come up with some
reasonable strategies and answers to the key questions raised by
the original poster.

Not me. I'm ready for any liberal candidate and no republican
candidate is ever the answer to anything.

The last time that wasn't true was with Teddy Roosevelt and he
eventually quit the party.

Right now, I'm leaning towards Obama since Hillary Clinton seems to
want to play the centrist game. He does not have all the answers
either but at least he is one of the few to state the obvious -
that the "war" in Iraq is a failed strategic blunder and
that we should withdraw immediately. I don't buy any of that
defeatist bull*** because there is NO war in Iraq - no opposing
army nor anything tangible to focus a military operation on; that
sort of World War ll thinking is not applicable and is part of the
current administration's strategic misconceptions -just exactly as
the "Swamp fox" 's tactics were an enigma to the British in the
revolutionary war period

The only liberal American running is Dennis Kucinich. Obama is an
unknown quanity which is fine if we were not comming off a world
class *** up and Hillary is a globalist like her husband.

I DON'T care if the candidate is a lefty liberal, a rightie
conservative
or a centrist or anything like that - those labels have become
meaningless in todays crises and massive distortions of the
traditional party divisions.

To a point but liberal doesn't just mean a political bent - it also
describes a secularist, a set of principles and someone who places
people ahead of property.

Exactly the opposite of Bush.

Thanks

Good points but you MUST expand your thinking - for example,
you focus on the need for absolute border security, fine.
BUT ... you must also cajole your beloved liberals
to START REFORMING the inefficencies and inequities of the
organizations whoose loopholes and easy manipulability
have made the current state of affairs possible.

Those folkws are not liberals they are globalists and see the welfare of
a tree living pygmy in a jungle somewhere as on par with the American
citizen. I am an American liberal not a bleeding heart tree hugger but a
liberal in the sense of my fore runners who use ball bats to gain labor
rights or fought WWII or dropped two nukes on Japan. My liberalism does
not span the borders of America and having traveled the world as a
military dependant for 20 years and as an Army officer for 25 years I
know that defending America against froeign and domestic enemies is the
most worthwhile thing a man can do because there is no other country
present or past that approaches the greatness of America nor the promise
of a better future.

Example 1 from many - The recent vote on allowing imported
drugs. Many senators voted in favour of this bill, but by means
of a well known trick, attaching a poisoned amendment to a bill,
the republican senator from Mississippi, a Mr. Cochrane,
effectively killed the proposal. In another case, a group
of unrelated amendments were tacked on to the war funding bill.
These kinds of trickery and other tricks MUST BE STOPPED -
PERHAPS BY AN ONLINE ITEM BY ITEM VETO POWER
THAT COMPLETELY BYPASSES CONGRESS AND THE PRESIDENT
AND CAN BE VOTED ON, PERIODICALLY, DIRECTLY
BY THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.

One of the amendments tacked on was one protecting my promised healthcare
from a tripling of fees, A move by the fucks running this country to not
only make the military the only ones fighting this war but also the few
who are paying the bill for it as well.

The vast majority of the amendments corrected wrongs the Bush shits
either neglicted or enacted.

I have already outlined other major reforms crying out to be
accomplished,
for example the current wretched state of our educational system,
(former teacher John Taylor Gatto has done his homework
and the full explanation of how it got that way, and the cure
can be found here - shocking and enlightening reading:

http://www.johntaylorgatto.com/underground/toc1.htm

We do not need to reform education. We need to reform our society so that
bad and good behavior are treated the same regardless of race. The
noecons are bad but just as bad are the neoliberals who refuse to address
the broken society. It began when we leveled the playing field in
education by lowering standards and renaming segregated classes as
'advance' or 'AP' classes which not only kept our minorities dumbed down
but created a new generation of majority burger flippers and criminals.

The loss of opportunity was continued in both parties.

The need for the closing of the dept. of Homeland Security with
its money wasting pseduo security, the absolute necessity of a total
reform of our foreign policy, the absolute necessity of a complete
overhaul of the process of awarding government contracts,

I agree HLS is a waste of money.

the necessity of reforming our world war two thinking dominated
military, the necessity to ELIMINATE that disgraceful monstrosity
known as the federal income tax and replace it with
something fair, workable and UNAVOIDABLE by the monied
and well lawyered elite individuals and companies,
a complete repeal of NAFTA or its replacement with something
that introduces the concept of FAIRNESS in our tradings
with other countries with whom we have massive
negative trade balances, the ABSOLUTE NECESSITY
to impose MASSIVE taxes against companies engaged
in any of the following activites -> OUTSOURCINGS,
BUILDING PRODUCTION PLANTS OVERSEAS,
UTILIZING H1B WORKERS, UTILIZING OR EXPLOITING
ILLEGAL LABORERS.

I agree with all of this to a degree as long as any tax is progressive.

Which candidate is ready to address any of the reforms
and issues (and many more like them)?
The next election draws near
and the public has already written off
the Bush clones and the Clinton clones,
realizing that more serious, more fundamental
changes are needed, that a choice between
TWEELEDUM and TWEEDLEDEE
is no longer sufficent.

Dennis Kucinich comes close and Ralph Nadar is close.

The rest are just remakes of Clinton or Bush.

Liberal? Conservative? The terms have lost
all meaning - the public is looking
for the AMERICAN PARTY and that party
WILL be controlled neither by lobbyists,
nor by global corporations, nor by a
philanthropic billionare whoose idea
of competition, in my opinion, seems somehow
to involve monopoly coupled with
the H1B imporation of cheap labour.

Citizen Jimserac

We need to stop the treatment of corporations as individuals, add two
years to public education, close down HLS, fence the land borders to
equal the effectiveness of the oceans as a barrier to unwanted
immigration and put an Ellis Island equivilent on the Southern Border and
Northern Border and reinstate the requirements for immigration to a
standard that insure any immigrant has a skill, is free of any disease or
physical handicaps, has no criminal leanings and possesses a normal or
better mental capacity. In the past the Atlantic Ocean and the Pacific
Oceans insured there was an intense selection process. We need to make
that same difficulty factor on our land borders in the form of fences or
any other method.

If you think the rush into America is bad now wait until Global Warming
hits the third world countries and their antique farming methods fail.
There poorly built buildings fall and their support systems fail.

If we do not act soon we will be inundated to a degree that our own
systems are taxed to the point of failing
