recovering Rove's emails

The RNC and Karl Rove have conspired to obstruct justice and defy the
US Congress by destroying Rove's emails. Rove will eventually spend
his waning days in a cage for this brazen anti-Americanism, but the
task at hand is to restore those bless'ed emails.
The RNC provided Rove with an email account, explicitly to defy US law
concerning Presidential records, and the reason they wanted to defy
Presidential records laws is worse. Now we have the coverup we've all
dreamed of. Rove has given Congress a clear mandate to uncover what
ever worms are in Rove's can, which is most of the one's currently
gnawing at the American soul.
The RNC email account is probably not physically at the RNC, but no
matter. Where ever it is, only a small portion of Rove's emails have
actually been overwritten by now. Most exist one a HD at an ISP and
can be recovered. The Congress needs to issue a search warrant for any
such HD. The HD itself does not need to be seized.
This is how it will go, technically.
A Congressional search warrant issues. US Capitol Police are
dispatched to the site of the mailserver at some very off-peak hour,
with a couple harddrives, a couple Linux hackers, and a Linux "rescue
floppy" and "install CD" in tow. The mailserver is taken down, i.e.
turned off. One of the blank HDs is installed in the box. The box is
booted to Linux from the rescue floppy or the install CD. The new HD
appears as /dev/hd3 in the unix filesystem. The mailserver's existing
HDs appear as /dev/hd0 and /dev/hd1. Our friendly neighborhood Linux
hacker executes this simple unix command...
cp /dev/hd0 /dev/hd3
and the machine copies the mailserver's archives to the new HD. I'm
not sure about the speed of current HDs, but this used to take well
under an hour. If the new HD is bigger than both existing HDs you can
get them both in one go with
cp /dev/hd0 /dev/hd1 /dev/hd3
This is a bit-for-bit copy of the entire partitioning scheme and
filesystems of the existing data.
You remove the new HD, put the mailserver back up, and make several
copies of the new cloned HD. You put one in a welded-shut steel box
and give it to the National Archives, and you make another copy on a
flash-RAM or something small enough for Nancy Pelosi to wear around
her neck.
