A global war on terror

When we ask why the 2700 American deaths in Iraq, why the 300 deaths in
Afghanistan, why the thousands of American kids and men and women with
amputations, paraplegias, quadriplegias, disfiguring burns and mental
issues, why the many more thousands of Iraqi civilian deaths, why the 400
billion spent in Iraq and Afghanistsn, and similar questions, the answer is
that we are fighting a global war on terror.

I understand the war on Al Qaeda. We fought them in Afghanistan and they
travelled to Iraq to fight us there. But what is this "global war on
terrorists"? Hezballah killed 2400 marines in Lebanon. Are we fighting them?
No. Hamas has killed countless civilians in Israel. Are we fighting them?
No. Are we going to find Reagan's contras and fight them, because they used
terrorist tactics against a communist government? Are we fighting Iran and
Syria? Why are we being told that we are involved in a global war on terror?
Do we plan to attack various and sundry terrorists on various continents?

We know for certain that North Korea has weapons of mass destruction. They
are not contained "in a box", but we are not attacking. We feel certain that
Iran wants to have WMD in order to use them against us. They are not
contained "in a box" but we are not attacking. But Iraq was contained "in a
box" and we attacked. Does this sound like there were no other reasons for
attacking Iraq? Is it possible that we were lied to?

Are there any lies being told right now? We are told that this is the most
crucial crossroads of modern history - more than a battle for life or
death - a battle for the survival of civilization itself. But there is no
visible war effort. No tax sacrifice. No war bonds. No converting of
factories to production of weapons. No draft. Not that I want any of those,
but are we being lied to? Are we being made to feel scared as a means of
achieving political advantage?

The dots do not connect.
