Before the war, GWBush and his henchmen told us there were three reasons
to go to war in Iraq:
1. Find Saddam's WMD.
2. Break ties between Saddam and Al Qaeda.
3, Depose Saddam.
Here is where we stood six months after the war:
1. Determined that there were no WMD to be found.
2. Determined that there were no ties between Saddam and Al Qaeda.
3. Saddam in jail.
We accomplished what we set out to accomplish. Why aren't we back home
now?
Seems to me if you set three goals and acheive all three of them, it's
time to come home -- no cut-and-run about it. Game over.
So why are we still there?
I don't think anyone really knows why. Someone started the suggestion and
all the neocons added their own irrational tidbits and soon the tidbits,
with a glory seeking president and lazy congress, overcame the rationality
against it.
