Re: A warning for you "religious right" folks

I disagree with most of what you post, and I'm sure I would
also disagree with your reasons for posting this, but I think you're
technically correct. Certainly, it was NOT God who told George W. to
"strike at Iraq", etc.

Note there is a difference between "faith" and the "church."

Here's what happens when the church and the guvmint get close. The church
prospers -- the church gets money and recognition from the guvmint. Church
leaders get invited to the White House and are made to feel important.
Church leaders make political speeches disguised as sermons.

But the faith on which the church is supposed to be grounded loses big
time -- because the church realizes that its prosperity is now tied to the
guvmint and the church becomes just another political party, doing
everything it can to keep the friendly political party in power. Meanwhile,
the faith on which the church is supposed to be based slides into oblivion
behind the need to maintain the church's political position.

Not exactly what Jesus meant when he told Peter to "feed my sheep."

So -- you "religious right" folks who are riding high need to ask yourself:
If Jesus came back today to stay on Earth just 24 hours, where would he show
up:
-- At the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem?
-- On the Rush Limbaugh show?
-- On Pat Robertson's 700 Club?
-- Standing beside GWBush in the Rose Garden?
-- Or, as an anonymous volunteer at an AIDS clinic in Newark?

Sorry, didn't mean to upset your apple cart but you really gotta decide --
the faith or the church.
