We DO NOT get the electric model -- they are for wimps and other
rightwingers. Real Americans turn their ice cream freezer by hand.
Then, we make cooked custard using this recipe. Wimps and other
rightwingers will buy pre-made ice cream mix or some other un-American shit
but Real Americans use this recipe.
Custard for homemade vanilla ice cream.
Makes 4 quarts.
3 cups milk
1-3/4 cups sugar
1/2 tsp salt
2 cups Half and Half
1 TBSP real vanilla (not imitation vanilla)
3 cups heavy whipping cream
Scald milk until bubbles form around edge of pot -- DO NOT BOIL. Remove
from heat, add sugar and salt, stir until dissolved. Stir in Half and Half,
vanilla, and whipping cream. Cover and refrigerate 30 minutes to an hour.
Then we liberals get our ice and rock salt; pour the custard into the
freezer, assemble the freezer, add ice and salt to the freezer, crank until
freezer is stiff adding ice and rock salt as necessary (20 minutes or so),
pack the freezer and let stand for about an hour.
Meanwhile, Ms. Liberal has been preparing the following All American Liberal
Fourth of July Feast:
-- thick, custom-cut pork ribs boiled, marinated in BBQ sauce overnight,
then cooked over charcoal, eat with your fingers;
-- tater salad with lots of mayo and hot mustard;
-- fresh Vidalia onions;
-- home-growed tomatoes;
-- fresh home-growed green beans cooked with a slab of streak-o'-lean in the
pot.
After this meal, we liberals unpack the ice cream and eat the entire gallon.
We then haul the TV set out onto the front porch and watch NASCAR. Which is
what we are doing this minute.
I'm considering becoming more liberal.
