American Jails - the real facts
NBC, ABC, CNN - America is the land of the free
Adventure 1 (cable, UK) is running a long series on US jails and they
did a lot of filiming in a tough jail.
Last night the show gave coverage of a prisoner who was being claiming
conpensation (30 USD) for mental distress after the jail officers took
away his bug. He found a bug in the yard and kept it. He painted it and
looked after it.
The jail's lawyer talked about the case and said 30 USD was just too
high! But they would loom at a 24 USD payment!
It was sad and funny to see four adults talking at length, and writing
documents, emails, letters and going to court over 30 USD and a bug.
There was even some talk about if he could get more jail time for
killing a bug.
I guess an animal is happier than the prisoners I watched.
