Is the US voter interested in doing the right thing?

Political debate is almost always couched in partisan terms. This is to
avoid the concept of right and wrong. It does not remove the concept of
right and wrong. Right and wrong were sharply delineated by the vote to
authorize the President to invade Iraq. The YEAs were wrong. Inexcusably,
crucially wrong. Fecklessly wrong. Roughly half of all Democrats were
right, and almost no Republicans. Hardly surprising. For a post-partisan
politics based on right and wrong, on simple competence, the party that
cynically calls itself the party of Lincoln must vanish, along with about
half the Democrats. Sounds about right to me.

Is the US voter interested in right and wrong? If so, the following
listing will interest every voter.

Kerry, like so many others in the federal legislature, embodies the wrong
decision at the wrong time, the wrong excuse for leadership. Roughly 25%
of the federal legislature can tell right from wrong. Kerry is in the
majority. He can't.

On October 10, the House and Senate passed identical resolutions
authorizing the use of force against Iraq, H.J. Res. 114/S.J. Res. 45. The
final vote in the House was 296-133 for the resolution, and 77-23 in favor
in the Senate. The joint resolution provides broad authorization for the
President to wage unilateral, preemptive war against Iraq at his
discretion. Although the resolution passed both houses by significant
margins, the opposition vote was notably larger than expected. Many members
who voted for the resolution also spoke out on the floor during debate
expressing strong support for resuming UN weapons inspections and deep
concerns over the costs and consequences of a possible unilateral,
preemptive war.

This was decision-time for this era, and the YEAS were wrong. Senator Byrd
tried desperately to tell his juniors they were being fools. Now thier
foolishness meets a much higher standard of proof. It is the mainstream
headlines. This divides the Congress into two Americas, right and wrong.
The Nays were right. Please do not return any of the wrongs to office.
None. Unfortunately, not all the wrong Senators are up for reelection in
this term.

America must discontinue old wrongs on a tiny planet. Only a fool couldn't
see what a mess this would be. Such fools are about 75% of the current
federal legislature, and all of the Major Party Presidential candidates.
