Why Republicans can't govern

There are many reason. first thy came to power by absorbing the
rejects of the Democratic Party when LBJ signed the Voting Rights Act,
the Dixiecrats and racists left the Democratic party and became
Republicans. LBJ thought it make take 10 years for the Democratic
party to recover. it actually took 50 years.
Second the Republican Party leadership is primarily made up of
corporate leaders and the affluent form the South and the West. When
George W. Bush left office, he was worth more than $300 million. Men
like Bush and John McCain have been out of touch with the Middle Class
all or most of their life. Therfore these men have been more focused
on tax cuts for the affluent than developing coherent programs that
benefit the man on the street. The Republicans ran Sarah Palin in 2008
because they knew they needed a candidate who was more like the
average American.
Another issue is that these are the same people who run US
corporations and are used to getting their way. Many have
authoritarian views which they carry from the business community into
public office. For Example, *** Cheney had been planning to
restructure the Middle East for 10 years as the Haliburton CEO. some
pundits believe Dubya had planned to invade Iraq even before the
election. How can a Republicans effectively govern if they cannot be
confused by the facts. Recently Barrack Obama stated that government
decisions would be based on science on not on ideology even when
inconvenient. He is a much wiser man than Bush ever was.
The bottom line is that the GOP is out of touch with the average
American. Most of the rank and file of the Republican Party have
authoritarian personalities. This may work in corporate offices, but
it is not effective in a democratic government. Is it any surprise
that the Republicans constantly engage in unAmerican activities like
bugging the Internet and email, torture and rendition?
Ask yourself if you would want your corporate masters running both the
US corporations and government? This is not a new idea. Benito
Mussolini coined the term "fascism to describe this syndicalism
between workers, corporations and government. We learned form the last
8 years that Republicans not only had trouble running large Wall
Street corporations, they were also unable to govern. Keeping the
Democrats in power in Washington DC may help these conservatives get
at least one thing right!
