See
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/05/02/AR20080
50203444.html for David Ignatius' report after recent trips to
Afghanistan and Iraq. Ignatius says Al Qaeda is now holed up in
Pakistan. The question is how to rout them from there.

So, now we're fighting tribal warlords in Afghanastan instead of Al
Qaeda.

That's what happens when you kick out Al Qaeda.

In Iraq we're fighting different factions in the middle of a civil war.

Which factions? The Kurds? No. The Sunnis? No. The Mahdi Army? Yeah, the
Iraqi police certainly are.

What happened the last time the US engaged the Mahdi Army in 2005? They
got beaten back and holed up in a mosque in Najaf.

What's next? We foment another civil war in Pakistan and go in there and
a
be a third party punching bag there too?

Are you saying you don't want to pursue Al Qaeda?

You "cops of the world" idealists
don't seem to see the irony in all of this.

You don't know what the word "irony" means. Look it up.

Every read Waumbaugh's "The
New Centurions"? That's what we've become. We are the Roman Ceturions
billeting ourselves around the world fighting manufactured enemies that
we
don't understand.

Wrong. We have been fighting to destroy an ideology that wants your head
cut off if you don't convert. This isn't about expanding the US Empire;
there is no US Empire. Were that so, the US would have several states in
Europe, and Saudi Arabia would be paying tribute to Washington.

It is about spreading peace and making democrats of autocratic
governments.

Blood and treasure is being exhausted for noble sounding
causes that have no real benefit for the "homeland".

Ever read "Never at War: Why Democracies Will Not Fight One Another"? I
didn't think so.

Our infrastructure
crumbles, our economy tanks, our currency becomes worthless paper, our
domestic industries dwindle, but the "defence" industry flourishes with
cost overruns, graft, and shoddy performance records.

You haven't a clue about the wealth and power of the US economy and
about the percentage of the Federal budget gets eaten up by the "butter"
that you on the Left gave instead of "bread and circuses."

And you think that
this is all a good idea?

It's not only a good idea: It's vital.

How many times have you and others stated that we now have the bad guys on
the run?

It's kind of like "We've turned the corner" being said time & again --
something else you & others have claimed repeatedly.
