Not at all. There were guns galore at the time of the War for Independence, and there was no effort to remove guns from the average person, just as there was no effort to ban capital penalties as "cruel and unusual punishment."

The Bill of Rights involves personal rights, and one of those personal rights is to bear arms. This has nothing to do with hunting per se.

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

That's another thing about the two lawyers Obama and Edwards: Neither mentioned the well regulated Militia. They simply don't believe it's applicable anymore.
