Will he reinstate that idiotic 'assult' weapons ban?
Given that assault weapons have no legitimate use other than killing
people for sport or committing felonies, what is so "idiotic" about
banning them?
The law was idiotic. They made larger than 10 round magazines
illegal, but it was still legal to buy magazines imported before the
ban. So you could easily buy the same parts as before, but they cost
a bit more.
Also they made you get rid of bayonets and flash hiders on certain
guns bought after a certain date, but otherwise they were the same.
Oh and you couldn't have a folding stock or pistol grip on OTHERWISE
THE SAME WEAPON. When is the last time anyone got bayoneted by a
psycho killer? Or how does a pistol grip slow down the columbine
shooters? The guns were the same but for a few cosmetic features..
The law was a joke and it didn't do anything but make a lot of smart
gun importers money because they stockpiled parts. The so called ban
never stopped anyone from buying what they wanted. It just made it
slightly more difficult.
Mall shooter hid assault rifle in sweatshirt
Thu Dec 6, 2007
OMAHA, Nebraska (Reuters) - A 19-year-old school dropout who shot
and killed eight people and himself at a Nebraska shopping mall
smuggled a stolen assault rifle into the building wrapped in a
sweatshirt and opened fire without warning when he got out of a
third-floor elevator, police said on Thursday.
His victims ranged in age from 24 to 66. They included two male
customers and another man and four women who were employees of the
Von Maur department store where most of the carnage occurred. Robert
Hawkins left text and voice messages with friends and family before
Wednesday's bloodbath. "He had apparently been experiencing some
mental health problems, ideations of suicide," Omaha Police Chief
Thomas Warren told a briefing.
Warren said Hawkins fired more than 30 rounds from the assault weapon.
That same weapon would have been legal under the ban.
Are you proud of that?
Are assault weapons in private hands really worth
the damage they do?
