Is Iowa Totally Backward ?

Is Iowa the hick dump everyone says it is?

I have an offer to do my internship there after I graduate, but
everyone in my hometown (Atlanta) and here in my university town
(Auburn) has laughed uproariously when I told them about it.

I told them Iowans are among the best educated people in the nation;
and they said that it because it is a homogenous bunch of 'Little
House on the Prairie' type farmers except for the ones who are on
meth. They say there is no diversity and no trace of urbanity, and
that the state is a large, stifling cornfield interspersed with
WalMarts.

I don't graduate until December and am really starting to get tired of
everyone laughing about me moving to Iowa when I haven't even done it
yet.

Iowa is a shithole and backwards but if its going to advance your

While you're at it, buy a bike. We have literally hundreds of miles of
interconnected bike trails, which makes biking a cheap and quick way
to get around. Plus, it's what all the cool people do - you will have
no trouble meeting people here (especially in the cycling community)
because they are friendly.
