He has not the training to evaluate the highly technical information.

He is concerned about how global warming will affect people. Just
because he finds the affects unacceptably nasty has no bearing
whatsoever just what we are bringing on ourselves.

He is suffering from terminal wishful thinking. "This can't happen
because God would not be so cruel as to punish us that severely just
for destroying his planet."
