San Antonio Express-News
There's an inconvenient truth about the upcoming American Institute of
Architects annual convention.
And it has nothing to do with the 20,000 registrants who will descend
upon San Antonio beginning Thursday.
Gore is perhaps the world's leading spokesman on global warming
following his best-selling book, "An Inconvenient Truth," and the
Oscar-winning documentary of the same name.
But the one-time journalist, congressman and presidential hopeful is
dead-set against media coverage of his keynote remarks to the AIA
crowd at the Convention Center on Saturday evening.
This despite the fact that the architects putting on the event want
Gore's message of green building and sustainable development to be
shouted from the hilltops to the more skeptical sectors of the
public.
<snip>
It's like this Josie: most of the media won't research or analyze
Gore's speech, they'll just ask some nutball who still claims global
warming theory is based on "junk science" for a few quotes. To them,
that's the epitome of 'fair and balanced'.
Are you one of those nutballs, Josie?
I have yet to hear of anyone who was screaming "junk science" in the
'90s stand up and admit they were wrong.
As for the rest of us non-architects who want to hear Gore's thoughts
on environmentalism and the future, you have to buy his book, pay to
watch his movie or be part of a group that foots the bill for his
hefty honorarium.
A skeptical person might think it sounds like a not-so inconvenient
way to maximize profits.
That last sentence is really catty, so this is probably a hit piece.
Why would anyone think that Gore's info on global warming is
proprietary?
