Hezbollah launching rockets from civilian backyards.

Hezbollah is equally to blame for the civilian casualties in Lebanon.
They spefically set up their headquarters and their rocket launching
pads in dense residential areas, sometimes literally in people's
backyards.

And a little history on this conflict. In 2000 Israel completely
withdrew from Southern Lebanon in exchange for a promise that Hezbollah
would be disarmed and the Lebanese army deployed on the southern
border. Instead, Hezbollah strengthened, and completely took over
Southern Lebanon and the border with Israel. Then Hezbollah, whose
explicit goal is the destruction of Israel, began firing rockets into
Israel and attacking in various ways. Finally on Wednesday after the
cross-border raid and the intensified rocket attacks, Israel decided it
had no choice but to go after Hezbollah. What should they have done?
Clearly diplomacy will not work with this Iran and Syria-backed
organization who are bent on their destruction. Should they have
allowed their people to continue being sitting ducks? The civilian
casualties are very tragic, but how else is Israel supposed to defend
itself against Hezbollah when they have stationed themselves in the
middle of the civilian population? Northern Israeli towns have been
evacuated...many people are living in bomb shelters in Israel now. How
should the Israeli govt respond? It was Hezbollah who clealry initiated
this.

And don't forget that in our completely unneccesary war against Iraq,
nearly 20,000 civilians are reported to have been killed. Not that that
makes anything right or better, but just keep that in perspective. In a
war that should never have happened, 20,000 civilians were killed.
Now, in a war that Israel had virtually no choice but to engage in, 200
civilians have been killed yet people act as though Israel is history's
greatest monster.
