Re: I'm sick of high gas prices but i REFUSE TO MAKE ANY SACRIFICES

They have not been economical all the time. It costs roughly $40 a
barrel, in 1990 prices, to coal into gasoline, and even ethanol is only
coming online now because Bush is paying ethanol producers essentially
the difference between the price of gasoline and the price of E85
ethanol. Think about it, the physics problem is simple. With oil, you
take stored solar energy from the dinosaurs, and get to release that
energy instantly. With any other "alternative" fuel, we have to supply
that energy ourselves to some other produce - in the case of coal to
liquids or even hydrogen production, or, use take a mix of solar and
our own energy inputs - such as the crops and distillation processes
used to produce ethanol.

There is not going to be an alternative energy substitute that takes us
back to the good old days of fuel costing 20 cents a gallon. From here
on out, fuel will always be expensive and will probably be at least $3
a gallon forever, in the long term.

you forgot Germany fought it´s WW2 mainly on non fossil
fuels and they excelled in killing 7.5 million Russians whicxh is only
good from a European standpoint.

And the guys that won the war had oil. Recall that the German
counterattack in the Battle of the Bulge (although doomed from the
start with, really), was immediately hampered for lack of fuel, and
that, the Germans didn't even contemplate a capital ship construction
project prior to the start of the war, largely because they were
already short of both steel and oil.
