Justice Alito won confirmation to the High Court with a 58-42 Senate vote. His predecessor, Justice O'Connor was confirmed by a 99-0 vote.
Does this signify anything to anyone?
Yep. It signifies that Democrats won't let go of Roe v. Wade as a litmus test.
If they could vote against Roberts (and they did), even though Roberts was just replacing a conservative, Rehnquist, it shows that Democrats won't allow any conservative on the Court.
BTW, FYI, NOW and NARAL and the other shrieking feminists had OPPOSED Justice O'Connor. But back then, the Senate Democrats weren't sucking their tits.
