State of the Union

It is time for the State of the union once again. I expect Bush to stay
on message like he did in New Orleans the other day, everything is
great and if you listen real close you will here the subtext " if you
are rich". It has been a year where the wealthiest Americans got richer
the biggest corporations got bigger and the oil companies made record
Profits and paid fourteen percent less in taxes while everyone else
paid more. Of course the Auto Companies are in the dumps, but that is
because they want way to much for their cars, which still burn gas and
diesel even though the technology exists for true hybrids not the
sometimes electrics being sold as hybrids or outright electrics. It has
also been a year of devastation both along the gulf coast and to the
economy. The poor got poorer and the middle class shrank. It has been a
year of outsourcing and death and destruction in Iraq as well as the
destruction of social programs for the poor and dispossessed here at
home. It has been a year where the self proclaimed education president
left the children of the poor and the middle class way behind. It has
been a year of spying and lying and the further ascendancy of the rabid
right and the religious wrongs. So no matter what lies Bush tells
tonight he will make one thing perfectly clear, that the Neo-Con
message to the country has not changed " If you can't make it, die".
