They tried by leaving only 8500 troops in the region these men were
thought to be hiding, while increasing the contingent in Iraq (which
had absolutely NO CONNECTION to the WTC attackers) to over 150,000?

This is a serious, serious enemy friend ... "trying" like that may be
enough to satisfy you ... but it's not getting the real job done.
