I'm still waiting for an explanation of why FF cameras are so expensive
especially after the market has increased so much.
They are so expensive because enough people are willing to pay that price.
And, of course, there are obvious cost benefits to manufacturing crop
cameras over full frame including sensor yield and economy of scale.
"The market" doesn't always work too well as Adam Smith pointed out in
Wealth of Nations. The way new camera pricing is going right now is like the
London property market which is inflated by Russian oligarchs. That's a
failure right there so why aren't regulators taking a look?
I'd like to see some real numbers instead of inflated "Oh, it's so hard"
numbers from IHV's with a vested interest in fat margins. Yeah, I know about
surface area and defect rate but even so. You get the same bullshit with
Intel and ISPs inflating cost/margins with plant/debt.
