I can't seem to talk myself into taking a point and shoot camera, which
means schleping a (yet to be chosen) Cannon DSLR and one lens (3.5 inch
Tamron 28-300).  My wonderful Pelican case is out of the question.. way too
heavy.

So, does anyone know of a great case that is light, protective, on the go
"quick draw", with a strap that won't wreak my shoulder?

(I will also listen to opinions as to my sanity for wanting to carry a big
camera through France.)  Good idea, or bad?

I travel all over with a Lowepro Toploader bag, and I am very
satisfied with it. In Europe, I would take the widest lens you can
get, as it will often not be wide enough. Length is not really
needed.
