Nikon Capture NX2, on the other hand, is something that you will be able to
master and it is probably the only software that can teach you how to master
your camera at the same time. The one thing it cannot do is move objects around
in the image; I've never wanted to do that so it doesn't bother me. Having
mastered its Control Points, extensive LCH adjustments, and auto correction
options, I find Adobe-style products irritatingly slow to use.
You're a much better man than me, Pete. I've been using both NX2 for Nikon and Capture One for the rest of my digital cameras and while NX2 is without a doubt what you said and much more, I am far from having mastered its control points and all the automation it can do. But that is just me. For the price, I haven't yet found anything better for Nikon, not even Capture One.
I seem to be a lone voice around here so don't don't pay too much attention to
my heavily-biased opinion.
No, you're not.
Hey, thanks for that, Noons.
I will restate a previous offer in case it is useful to anyone: I am more than willing to edit a Nikon NEF file and fully explain my editing steps contained in the returned NEF. I'm not "an expert", but my retirement has given me more time than most have to explore the features of NX2 and Nikon DSLRs.
I appreciate that a NEF contains more information than one may wish to share with "a random Internet poster" such as myself. Heck, even after "Save As JPEG" the JPEG EXIF fields retain things such as number of shutter actuations, camera and lens serial numbers - too much information in my opinion. Although that helps authenticate an image, it would be useful if there was an option to select privacy/full EXIF info.
