We have it hard enough keeping up with film quality as
it is. Why cripple a digital camera further?
Live a little. Crank the quality up, and quit showing little
dinky pictures with mediocre quality.

Okay! I already cranked up the MP on both our cameras, and can certainly edit out far more of the pictures that I do take. Likewise, if I do make another photo album, I just won't bore others with it here. I will now try to narrow this down to just a few of the better and more memorable pictures - hopefully - to show on this newsgroup. As for a critique, whether intended to be or not, by the very nature of this newsgroup, it will be critiqued.

Good. Don't just crank up the MP, go to the largest size and the highest quality your camera will permit, and leave it there. Memory cards are cheap.

Agreed, try not to bore us, but that does not mean the concept of the album or web gallery is a bad thing. It should be thoughtful and provoke some interest in the target group. The lesson of the mind numbing family vacation slide show needs to be heeded, there are probably only two people who have any interest in all of the shots you are showing to us, and they both live under your roof. Select, select, select, and if all you have after going through hundreds of shots is 4 shots which might appeal to a wider audience consider yourself successful.

To create an album, or web gallery to show an event, or a theme such as one part of one of your cruises, it is not absolutely a requirement for every image to be perfect, few are. The images should at a minimum show that there was some interest on the part of the photographer in capturing the image, you have yet to demonstrate that.

Not every album is going to be of interest to every viewer, it takes extraordinary work to transcend that.
Here is a web galley of mine which contains some badly composed shots, some badly cropped shots, and all of little interest to the great majority. I didn't think they would be of much interest to folks in this NG, and I don't believe there is much here worthy of critical acclaim, and none are beyond criticism.

Some of those shots might work well as stand alones, but as a group are probably only of interest to those involved, and they seemed enjoy them. That day I shot somewhere around 600 shots. I probably had 50 I considered keepers and I made up several galleries each with a different mix of shots, keeping the number of shots in the galleries limited to about 20-24.
