I have a Nikon D70s, with the Nikkor 18-70mm lens. Will this circular
polarizer work on my lens ?
What is the 77mm designation on this lens ?
Am looking for a good circular polarizer for my Nikon, and this one gets
good reviews on Amazon. I mainly need to know if it will fit my Nikkor
18-70mm lens. And, if any of you have this filter, I would like to know if
you like it.
Thanks !!
James
Almost, but not all, "usual" Nikon lenses have 52mm filter rings. That goes for almost all the lenses from the Nikon F through the iterations of film cameras through most of the digitals. Every single lens for my Nikon F (24mm, 28mm, 50mm, 43-86mm, 105mm and 200mm use a 52mm filter ring. Both lenses for my D5000 digital (18-55 and 55-200) use 52mm filter rings. I have two 52mm circular polarizers. They are not cheap. If you want the effect polarizers give, you need one. Check the lens on your camera to see what size filter ring it accepts. Don't waste money buying a 77mm filter which will cost far more than the 52 and with a step up ring (if there actually IS one for 52 to 77) will look very silly. Check you lens for specs first, then go to B&H and buy a Hoya or a Tiffen and you'll get good quality for reasonable money.
