My bitch in this context is all the raw data is wrapped up and there's a
lack of vendor effort to document their formats and work towards a common
API. Why should people have to use Camera Raw, or for "legacy" stuff go
through the PITA hurdle of raw convertor?
Then there's lens distortion and chroma data.
I looked into this a few weeks back when I was looking into the feasibility
of developing a Lightroom style raw processor. It's a nightmare and the
duplication of effort is insane. The IHV's are bad enough but where's Adobe's excuse for locking up Camera Raw?
